“You’ve seen my descent. Now watch my rising.” -Rumi

Most of us have hit low times. Some of us will have hit an absolute all time low that you fear you will never escape from. We may have had terrible thoughts of being a failure, being worthless, and our lives being completely pointless. I have a strong suspicion that most people feel like this at some point in their lives. Whether this is because society drags us down or whether we feel inadequate due to being enveloped in a social media circus, I don’t entirely know. I am of the opinion that social media can be a catalyst in both our descent and our rising. We just need to be our own filter.

The Descent

My descent began way before the big rise of social media. I think Facebook was just about taking off. We had camera phones but the whole ‘selfie’ phenomenon was a long way off. Geonaute OnRhythm 410 Progress

Since I have been on my own personal fitness journey I have been monitoring my intake of calories through My Fitness Pal and using the gym equipment to monitor my calorie burn. As we all know, these machines are not accurate. The ones I use at my Virgin Active Gym do not allow me to programme in my weight and height, and they have the normal grips to check your heart rate. I am sure this has some use, maybe for people who are aware of exactly what their heart rate should be, but that is not me. I was using the figure on the machines to calculate my calorie burn and, by inputting this information in to my go to place for monitoring everything, My Fitness Pal, to measure whether I was on target with my food tracking for the day. I did hit a plateau with my weight loss so I decided to purchase a Heart Rate Monitor. Having never used one before I was reluctant to buy anything too expensive so I searched for one within my price range. I was not dissapointed.

I purchased the Geonaute Rhythm 410 Progress for £34.99 at Decathlon It was one of the cheapest that they sold so I thought it was worth a go.

Self Doubt Syndrome

You absolutely need to have confidence in your decisions and actions to be successful. You need to believe in what you are doing as it is with that belief, that you overcome the inevitable hurdles.

I have absolutely no confidence in what I am doing most of the time. I often think “I’m shit at this” and stop. This is why none of my business ideas have come to fruition. It is not because they were terrible ideas, in fact most of the ideas that I had, have since been adopted very successfully by others. Others that don’t have self Doubt Syndrome (more…)
